What is the Lab?
S.I.T.Y is an action—and animation-oriented research lab. We respond rapidly to everyday issues and work with individuals and communities in real-time. We understand cultivating interruption and intervention as a necessary and everyday part of life worthy of observation and documentation. While contending with the struggles of human life, we aim to intervene, alleviate, document, and amplify the ongoing need for structural change.
What is our purpose?
Our purpose is to respond to people's and communities' daily concerns. We are ready, willing, and resourced to partner with community groups, organizations, and individuals to lend support and expertise to interventions that align with our goal and capacity.
What are interventions?
Interventions are meant to interrupt, de-surveil, and counter-surveil instantiations of power (e.g., people, places, spaces, policies, procedures, practices, and laws). Interventions include research, public animations, creative outputs, direct advocacy, policy review and writing, and consultations.
